SACO is proud to partner with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) in the development of an advanced Unit Load Device (ULD) handling system at their new facility at Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD), Spain. The primary objective of this project is to ensure the safe and efficient handling of ULDs within this state-of-the-art facility, which has direct airside access.
This fully integrated handling system is designed to improve cargo throughput, minimize handling times, and ensure operational safety, positioning WFS’s new facility at Madrid Barajas Airport as a key hub for efficient ULD management in Spain.
ULD Handling System Project for Havas at Istanbul Airport
In a significant development aimed at enhancing cargo handling efficiency, SACO has been entrusted with the design and implementation of an advanced Unit Load Device (ULD) handling system for Havas at Istanbul Airport, Turkey. The scope of supply for this project includes a fully automated electrical control system that will significantly improve the process of loading, unloading, and transporting ULDs.

Material Handling System Upgrade for the Belgian Military
Following the introduction of the new A400M transport aircraft, the Belgian Military embarked on a comprehensive project to upgrade its material handling equipment. This significant initiative involved a complete redesign of a large-scale warehouse dedicated to the assembly of air pallets, ensuring the facility is fully equipped to support the increased cargo capacity and operational demands of the A400M.
Buffer TEP System for Air France Cargo at Charles de Gaulle Airport
SACO has successfully delivered the advanced Buffer TEP system to Air France Cargo (AFC) at Charles de Gaulle Airport. This cutting-edge ULD transport system is designed to automatically convey ULDs between the truck docking area and the Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) docking area. While transporting the ULDs, the system continuously monitors their positions and prioritises movements based on operational needs. This innovative solution enhances the efficiency and reliability of Air France Cargo’s logistics operations, ensuring smooth and automated handling of cargo throughout the facility.
ULD Handling and Storage System for Air New Zealand
SACO is proud to have delivered a fully automated ULD handling and storage system to Air New Zealand at Auckland Airport (AKL), New Zealand. This advanced system features a 4-level, 15ft ETV (Elevating Transfer Vehicle) equipped with fully automatic controls. With 270 storage positions for 10ft units, the system provides efficient and reliable storage and management of ULDs. Thanks to this innovative technology, Air New Zealand can significantly enhance their operational efficiency, making a valuable contribution to their logistics processes at the airport.
ULD Handling System for DHL Hub at Leipzig Halle Airport
SACO is proud to have delivered a ULD handling system for the DHL Hub at Leipzig Halle Airport. This massive logistics centre, representing an investment of €230 million, spans a warehouse area of 48,000 m². With the capacity to process 150,000 packages per hour and manage 23,600 aircraft movements per year, the hub plays a crucial role in DHL’s global operations. The advanced ULD handling system provided by SACO ensures efficient and reliable cargo handling, supporting the seamless flow of goods through one of the world’s busiest logistics hubs.
